Picture Prompts for Quick Writes

Have you seen the NY Times picture prompts? These make a great quick-write-a-day. This website posts interesting pictures every day. Students can practice using literary devices previously learned during writer's workshop. For example, if they've learned that writers "show, don't tell," have them write for 3 to 5 minutes using rich sensory details to describe the image. Click here to see the prompts.
